Reinner: With each lap consisting of 30 seconds, and the race is 9 hours, how many laps?
Me: That's 2 laps per minute. 120 laps per hour. 1080 laps.
Reinner: Word, that's how many laps my Bspec will do overnight.
Me: WOW
Reinner: And every minute, he laps everyone
Me: Wow
Reinner: Consistently. Even bumping them off the track. Bwahaha
Me: I'm guessing this is Delacruz?
Reinner: Valesco, Angel, Bendner, and Delacruz. My racing team of choice.
Me: I feel like wearing sweats tomorrow
Reinner: Nice! I have another calculation for you
Me: Gooo!
Reinner: Every 45 laps, he will pit. How many pits will happen in those 1080 laps?
Me: 24 pit-stops. Y'see, I think if these Chem equations somehow pertained to racing...my day would be made.
Reinner: Considering each pitstop is 1:30 seconds, what's the total time used during those 9 hours?
Me: Wait, wouldn't that considerably change the amount of laps raced if he goes at a constant pace of 30 seconds per lap?
Reinner: That's my next question too. How many laps is that off of 1080?
Me: Well, if each pitstop is one minute 30 seconds, then it would be 36 minutes of pitstops.
Reinner: What's the true lap number then?
Me: If he's still going at a constant pace of 30 seconds per lap, those 36 minutes equal 72 laps. The amount of laps during those 9 hours including pit stops, it would be 1008.
Reinner: Nicely done. Now here's a hard one. The track is 2.045 km long.
Me: Reinner, are you drilling me and preparing me for Chem?
Reinner: What's the average speed a car would be travelling for [a lap] to be done in 30 seconds?
Me: The track being at 2.045 km long, am I measuring this in mph or kph?
Reinner: KPH
Me: Hm...
Reinner: Or is it not enough info? Heh it should be enough
Me: I'm slightly at a loss. 30 seconds is the amount of time. 2.045 km is the distance.
Reinner: Convert the seconds to hours. And then divide. lol
Me: Ah...Occham's razor.
Reinner: Yup. That's all assuming the track is straight. We aren't getting into curves and weights and whatever.
Me: Reinner, 245.4 kph. Is that even possible to go at that speed?
Reinner: Yep. This car does. It averages 250 kph on the track.
Me: Ah, I had to convert it to mph first to get a more tangible feel. Tell me, does the track have curves?
Reinner: It's about 120, right?
Me: In mph? It's about 152
Reinner: The track is Tsukuba circuit
